A TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT:
FRENCH EXPERTISE SERVING ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY INNOVATION

To give birth at this refillable receptacles, CHA LING called Artoria, an outstanding manufacturer specialized in luxury products in porcelain based in Limoges. This house labeled « Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant » includes 16 employees who perpetuate a unique know-how dating back to the 1920s.

Contents preservation and hygiene of the container : three years of research and development to perfect this new packaging. « As the pieces are entirely cast and emptied by hand, we needed to overcome several technical constraints such as finding subtle spacers and a way to adhere the plastic refill to the porcelain jar and bottle, since porcelain is a living material that shrinks by almost 14% during firing! »  explain Farid ZAIDI Managing Director of the Artoria porcelain factory.

Entirely hand-made, each refillable is unique and results from know-how transmitted from one generation to the next.
These meticulously worked and truly exceptional pieces go through around ten different stages before completion, each one taking several hours.

Hand casting : The liquid slip is poured into a plaster mould and adheres to the walls; after a certain amount of time, the length of which determines the thickness of the piece, the excess slip is emptied out.

Mould removal : After a set time - the duration is estimated by the expert workers, the bottle is unmolded by hand. Then the workpiece is dried under natural conditions.

Finishing :This step consists in passing manually a wet sponge on the part in order to eliminate the demolding imperfections. This phase is more or less long depending on the complexity of the shape of each part.

A first firing is then carried out in gas kilns

Enamelling : the piece is manually dipped in enamel made up of quartz and feldspar, giving it this shiny grey appearance but allowing various nuances and markings to show through.

A final firing at 1400 °C gives the piece its hardwearing, non-porous final finish.

Decoration : Last stage, the decoration is placed on each piece by hand by decal. Après this is hand-traced before being set in an electric oven at 780°C.

An entirely artisanal manufacturing process. Professions to be safeguarded in the service of a committed beauty.
